New York police announced that thieves seeking unattended electronic devices at Starbucks cafes are increasing.

Due to increasing reports of larceny, NYPD is now even setting up sting operations, reported the New York Times. Decoy bags were applied to arrest a thief.

The world famous coffee chain draws customers around the globe who want to enjoy comfortable seats, drinks, and especially, free Wi-Fi service. However, with about 298 stores in the Big Apple, police are aware of frequent missing reports.

Customers often stand on the line with their bags left behind their seats; a common, but dangerous action. People should be alert; otherwise they will end up paying for the most expensive coffee.

Despite prevailing losses, a Starbucks chain declined police’s request to set up warning signs, as such measures call for corporate approval, according to the report.

Capt. Mark DiPaolo said, “It is a comfort zone that people have.” People tend to relax themselves with soothing jazz music at the café. But, a spokesperson for Starbucks said, "Customers should always be aware of their surroundings when in public places, whether at one of our stores or elsewhere.”
