Australian actor Hugh Jackman won the Golden Globe for best actor in a musical or comedy Sunday for his all-singing role in musical adaptation “Les Miserables.”

Jackman beat fellow nominees Jack Black in “Bernie,” Bradley Cooper in “Silver Linings Playbook,” Ewan McGregor in “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen” and Bill Murray in “Hyde Park on Hudson.”

In his acceptance speech, Jackman -- praised for his vocal skills in the movie -- revealed that he almost gave up the starring role of Jean Valjean only a few weeks before it started filming.

“Three weeks before we started filming, we had a terrible day of rehearsal. Humiliating day,” he said, adding he told his wife: “‘It’s time. I have to ring (the director), tell him someone else should play the role. I‘ve bitten off more than I can chew.’

”My wife talked me off the cliff like she talks me (down) most days. Baby, I will say it in front of the entire world -- thank you for always being right, baby. I love you.“ (AFP)

휴 잭맨, 골든글러브 남우주연상 수상!

뮤지컬 영화 “레미제라블”의 휴 잭맨이 13일 오후 8시(현지시각) 열린 제 70회 골든글로브 뮤지컬•코미디 부문 남우주연상을 수상했다.

휴 잭맨은 “버니”의 잭 블랙, “실버라이닝스 플레이북”의 브래들리 쿠퍼, “사막에서 연어낚시”의 이완 맥그리거와 “허드슨의 하이드강”의 빌 머레이를 제치고 수상의 영광을 안게 되었다.

휴 잭맨은 수상소감 중 “레미제라블” 촬영 몇 주 전까지만 해도 장발장 역할을 포기할까 생각한 적 있었다고 언급했다.

그는 “촬영이 시작되기 3주 전 우리는 리허설을 잘 하지 못했습니다. 속상한 날이었지요” 라고 했다. 그는 아내에게 “내가 감당할 수 없는 역할인 것 같아 감독에게 배역을 교체해달라고” 이야기했다고도 밝혔다.
