K-pop boy band JYJ will hold a free concert on a major street in downtown Seoul on Oct. 5, the group’s agency said Monday.

The concert is part of the upcoming “2014 Gangnam Festival,” designed to promote hallyu, the overseas Korean pop culture boom, Gangnam-gu Office said.

It will take place on Yeongdong Road in front of the Korea Electric Power Corp. headquarters in Samseong-dong. Over 33,000 fans are expected to turn up, turning the area into a giant outdoor concert venue.

The idol group is currently on a concert tour of Asia, following the release of its second studio album, “Just Us,” on July 29.

This year’s “Gangnam Festival,” which involves various cultural events ranging from hallyu-themed concerts and an international marathon to a food fair, runs from Oct. 2-5, the office said. K-pop stars such as Rain, Girls’ Generation, Super Junior and TVXQ have appeared in previous festivals.
