Dozens of South Korea's small- and medium-sized enterprises will set up booths at a K-pop convention in Japan this week, organizers said Sunday.

The organizers, including the Small and Medium Business Administration, said more than 40 small- and medium-sized firms will participate in KCON Japan for three days starting Monday.

It is the first time the annual K-pop convention is taking place outside the United States.

Organizers said they have hand-picked these companies based on their relevance to the Korean Wave, or the rising global popularity of South Korean pop culture.

These companies will showcase their latest products in beauty, fashion and food, among others, to more than 70 Japanese buyers.

KCON was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 2012. It is organized by South Korean record label MNet America and food and entertainment giant CJ E&M. (Yonhap)
