개봉 단 6일 만에 200만 명을 돌파하며 흥행에 순항하고 있는 ‘더 테러 라이브’가 현지시간으로 9일부터 북미지역 7개 도시에서 순차적으로 개봉한다.
8일 배급사 롯데엔터테인먼트에 따르면 ‘더 테러 라이브’는 9일 로스앤젤레스(LA) CGV 극장에서 개봉을 시작으로 뉴욕, 애틀랜타, 캐나다 밴쿠버, 토론토 등 북미 주요 7개 도시 25개 관 상영이 확정됐다.
해당 영화는 현재 8일 기준으로 약 300만 명의 관객을 모으며 국내에서의 흥행을 계속해서 이어가고 있으며, 개봉 결과에 따라 상영관을 확대하는 방안도 검토 중이라고 롯데 측은 전했다.
지난달 31일 국내에서 개봉한 ‘더 테러 라이브’는 김병우 감독의 작품으로, 불미스러운 사건에 휘말리며 라디오로 밀려난 유망하던 스타 뉴스 앵커 윤영화(하정우 분)가 자신의 라디오 생방송 도중 한강 마포대교 폭발 사건을 일으킨 테러범과의 전화 통화를 TV로 실시간 생중계하며 벌어지는 이야기를 다룬 영화다.
한편, 해당 영화의 북미 개봉에 앞서 최근 ‘광해, 왕이 된 남자’(2012)와 ‘베를린’(2013) 등이 북미 시장에서 비슷한 크기로 상영된바 있다. (코리아 헤럴드 서혜림 인턴기자)

‘The Terror Live’ will released in 7 North American cities

After marking two million views within just six days of release, “The Terror Live” will be released in seven cities in North America starting on Aug. 9, the movie’s investment distribution company Lotte Entertainment announced Thursday.
The North American premiere will take place at CGV theater in Los Angeles on Friday, followed by New York, Atlanta, Seattle, Las Vegas, Vancouver and Toronto. More screens may be added depending on the film’s performance. Meanwhile, more than 3 million people have seen the movie as of Thursday morning.
“The Terror Live,” directed by Kim Byung-woo, is about radio show host Yoon Young-hwa (Ha Jung-woo), a former TV anchor who fell from glory after an unsavory incident, who is pulled into a terror plot when a man threatens to blow up a Seoul bridge live on air.
Previously, “Masquerade (Gwanghae: The Man Who Became King)” and “The Berlin File” were released in North America on a similar scale.
